Hawken: Reborn
A first / third person mech shooter in the Hawken franchise where the mechs allow for fast paced combat with a jetpack- like movement system.
Played in an open world divided into sections, with many smaller side quest spread out through out the different sections. Along with larger story line quest that takes place in the open world.
Level design
My Level design work was focused on re-designing and uplifting specific areas of the open world to improve the gameplay in the area as well as making the area more aesthetic and fitting for the world.
Uplifting areas of the open world
Blocking out uplifts and testing block outs.
Working with graphical design to determine new assets that needed to be made and how to use them.
Iterating on the block out based on testing as well as feedback from the Arts department.
Implementing and testing NavMesh for the AI, both friendly and enemy NPCs.
Placing and preparing spawn closets to be used in the area as well as interactable props, both ones that would be in the persistent world and specific missions.
Quest design
Most of my work in Hawken Reborn was as a Mission designer where I would uplift mission, this would involve taking missions that had already been created and improve on them as well as fixing any buggs that had accured due to changes in the tools that were being used for the missions.
Setting mission structure and pacing.
Designing combat encounters.
Enemy selection and behavior.
Spawn locations .
Setting up interactable objectives specifically for the mission.
